Grantham Area Guide

I have lived in the local area for the majority of my time since leaving the Royal Air Force in 2005 and can honestly say Grantham is a great place to live. Geographically it’s perfectly positioned with London KX only 65 minutes away and the larger cities of Nottingham (30 mins) and Lincoln (45 mins) close by.

A major attraction of the area is not only the house prices but the highly sought after schools in the area. The King’s School & Kesteven and Grantham Girls’ School are two Grammar schools situated in the heart of the town.

There’s plenty for a family to do with Wyndham Park a popular spot, featuring a play area, splash park and plenty of open space for picnics. Walk along the river to the south side of the town and you’ll find Dysart Park. The town also boasts a bowling alley, thriving Tennis & Squash clubs and a leisure centre with swimming pools.

Belton Woods Hotel & Golf Club is located just outside of town and offers 2 x 18 hole course (Woods & The Lakes) plus a fantastic private gym with pool.

If you’re looking for a residential area to live then consider; Barrowby Gate, Barrowby Lodge, Gonerby Hill Foot, Manthorpe Estate or the Sunningdale. The villages of Barrowby, Great Gonerby and Harlaxton are extremely close by and should also be considered.

The town centre has a decent range of amenities including; Sainsbury’s, Asda and Morrisons for grocery shopping and there’s also a Marks & Spencer’s situated off London Road. For dining/evening out; try the very popular Cinco Lounge, The Tap & Tonic and the welcoming Chequers. If you have a moment pop into The Angel and Royal for Sunday lunch and enjoy the 800 year old medievel charm.
